Some Christians seem to believe that certain aspects of ministry such as Casting out Demons are just for those that are “called”. All Christians have been called to function in the ministry. Jesus said Mark 16:17:
“Mark 16:17: And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Luke 11:20: But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.
Jesus gave every believer a command in the Great Commission to “go into the world and make disciples”. This passage of scripture is not just referring to the five-fold ministry mentioned in Ephesians. Anyone that has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour should receive this as a command from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Those Christians that are learning this ministry as well as those that are already functioning in this ministry must always keep in mind who the Deliverer really is. This simple principle will keep a Deliverance Minister from becoming puffed up with pride or looking for demon in every person or “under every rock” which is a term that we have all heard.
When a Deliverance Minister begins to look for demons in people, the effectiveness of the ministry is lost because the person that may be a potential deliverance candidate can “feel” this intense staring and probing. Upon feeling this, their faith can be affected and thereby causing this candidate not to seek deliverance due to a lack of trust. A Deliverance Minister can only trust in the Holy Spirit for their “discerning of spirits”. The ability to “stare” until you discern demons does not work in the deliverance ministry and will cause many problems in the minister and in the potential candidates for deliverance. God expects all believers to study His Word so that we will know the delegated authority of Jesus Christ to “cast out demons”. This ministry is very powerful. The believer that administers deliverance must know this fact and walk “humbly” before the throne of Jesus Christ who is the Great Deliverer. Please be encouraged and not get caught up in always trying to discern demons in people. The Lord will show you naturally and sometimes the demons themselves will just manifest. Be very careful and seek the Lord on a daily basis so that he will show you how to walk as a Deliverance Minister for the Lord Jesus Christ’s glory and not your own glory.
Matthew 28:18: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Colossians 1:18: And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Ephesians 1:19-23 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
