Salvation

As a born again Christian we have received abundant forgiveness from the Lord of our sins. Anyone that does not know the Lord can know Him because of the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalm 32:1-2 says: Blesses is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

We are blessed and have abundant joy in our hearts because of the forgiveness that comes freely from the Lord. We have been forgiven for our willful disobedience and rebellion. We all have missed the mark and the Lord knows that we are imperfect. If we were still in our sin as a Christian there would be no way that we could see the Lord in heaven. Because of the forgiveness that the Lord shows toward us we have been reconciled back to God. The Lord forgives all sin no matter how big or small we think they are.

In Psalm 32:5 the Psalmists says that he acknowledged his sin before the Lord.

Psalm 32:5: I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquities have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

To become spiritually strong as a Christian you must read the Bible the Word of God. When becoming a Christian, the Bible calls us “babes in Christ”. The only way to grow and learn the things of God is through the inspired Word of God. Reading other people’s Christian books will not be enough. A new Christian must read the Bible as their only trusted source of spiritual food. Moreover, the Bible will show us the mind of God and the ways of God. Another plus of reading the Word of God is the renewing of the Mind. As a new Christian we are used to thinking “the same ole” way that we always have. The Bible will cause our mind to become slowly renewed to the ways of the Lord.

The Word of God is important to our spiritual life, hence the comparison to water. We see in the Word of God also the comparison to milk which means a young baby Christian needs the milk of the Word to grow spiritually. Additionally, the Word of God is compared to meat, which shows that there is spiritual substance for the mature Christian.

In Psalms 119:160, the psalmist proclaims that the Word of God is the truth saying: The sum of Thy word is truth, And every one of Thy righteous ordinances is everlasting. (Ps 119:160). We should not “depend” on a pastor, teacher or evangelist to keep us in the truth. The Word of God has been given to us individually so that we could remain in the way of the truth. We must get into the Word of God for ourselves so that we are not lost. God will hold everyone of us accountable as Christians to what we did and how we lived by the Word of God. We will not have to stand judgment for anyone else.

“Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things…” 2 Timothy 4:2-5

When Jesus walked the earth He did proclaim that He was God. The Bible even shows that Jesus Christ is God. The Jews even tried to stone Jesus for His proclamation of being God. The Jews knew that Jesus was claiming deity. The reader should be drawn to the fact that Jesus did not deny this claim stating that “I and the Father are One” (John 10:30). Jesus was declaring the He and the Father God were one in nature. Jesus also Said in John 8:58:” I tell you the truth, before Abraham was, I am”. When Jesus made this claim the Jews response was to begin to throw stones at Jesus even for the purpose of killing Him for blasphemy according to the Mosaic Law.

John also confirms the fact of Jesus’ deity. John documents that the Word was God and that the Word became flesh. (John 1:1, 14). These words are clear that Jesus Christ came to this earth as God in the flesh. Acts 20:28: also shows that Jesus is God saying: “Be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with His own Blood. We already know whose Blood was shed for the purpose of the Church. Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. Jesus is not just the son of God. Jesus Christ is God.

We see in the Bible also that even doubting Thomas made the declaration the Jesus Christ was “My Lord and my God” (John 20:28). Notice when you read these versus that Jesus did not correct Thomas. Titus tells us to stand and watch for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Father speaks of Jesus as being “O God” in Hebrews 1:8: Your throne O God will last forever and righteousness will be the scepter of your Kingdom.

The Necessity of Repentance

by Pastor Dennis

Repentance involves the changing of a person’s mind. When we feel sorry for what we have not done or what we have done then we are repentant. The dictionary defines repentance as feeling regret or being dissatisfied because of a past intent or action which resulted in changing of mind or of changing a person’s ways.

Repentance is Godly sorrow and to despise sin. Repentance is returning to the Lord and having a right attitude towards Him. Paul mentioned in 2 Corinthians 7:10 that Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of. There is nothing gloomy about repentance. When we repent we are to turn totally from whatever we are sorry for. This turning away means to turn totally away and never look back.

True repentance is followed by proving the change that has been professed. In the book of Acts, the people that repented brought books that were worth fifty thousand pieces of silver and burned them before all. In the First Thessalonians 1:9 the people proved their change by the turning away from idols and serving the true God.

The question that has always been asked is can a Christian have a demon? A Christian can have anything that they desire as long as they have a will. We should not cast demons out of unbelievers because they have no defense against the devil. Only saved people have authority over demons and can defend themselves against the Devil in the Name of Jesus. When we say possessed by a devil what does that mean? This may be a bit confusing, however, in the New Testament Greek, possessed does not imply ownership, but means “to have” a demon, or you can be tormented and vexed by a demon. Have you ever seen a sick Christian? Well they could be getting attacked by a spirit of infirmity ( Luke 13). Your next question may be: Who is allowed to cast out evil spirits? Any Born-Again, true believer in Christ can cast out demons. Mark 16:16,17 says that those who believe can cast out demons.
