Deliverance

The Spiritual Authority of the Lord Jesus Christ is needed to cast out demons. The only ones that possess this authority is Bible believing Christians. The Bible shows that ALL Bible believing Christians have this authority to use the name of Jesus to cast out demons. This Spiritual Authority is exercised by a spoken command using the name of Jesus.

Jesus gave all believers an exhortation in John 20:21: Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. We are sent to do the same works as Jesus in John 14:12: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. Moreover, we were invested with this authority to do the work of the ministry in Mark 13:34: For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.

Using our authority in the name of Jesus Christ is what causes the demons to move. The scriptures in Mark 1:27 says that they were amazed when they saw Jesus using authority to cast out the unclean spirits. The Bible says that the spirits obeyed the word of the Lord. In Luke 4:35 the Bible shows that Jesus was unafraid to speak the word and see the demons move and flee.

Luke 4:35-37: And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not. 36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

Luke 10:17-19: The disciples returned to Jesus and said : “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power (translates to AUTHORITY) to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Christians must seek to build faith by reading the Word of God. A solid understanding of the Word of God is needed when attempting to function in the ministry of healing the sick, casting out demons and when moving in the speaking authority over the powers of darkness.

For example, Jesus gave us authority to cast out demons in His name. So when we speak in the authority of the Lord, we should not ask Jesus to cast the demon out. We should speak the Word of God and say, “In the name of Jesus, I command you to come out”. The Bible does not tell us to ask the Lord to cast out a demon. He told us to cast them out.

For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Mark 13:34

Authority Explained

When you speak the Word of God in authority, we do not, ask or beg, we command. We are not to beg demons or ask them to do anything; we are to command in the name of Jesus.

Luke 9:1, “Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils…”

Luke 10:17, “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.”

Matthew 8:8-9, 13: The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 13Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! It will be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that very hour.

The following are elements to be considered prior to the Deliverance ministry:

Rights to be there:When going through the Deliverance Ministry, we must consider the things in a person’s life that could give a demon or evil spirit the right to be there. Some of the issues to be considered are:

  • Sins that may not have been confessed
  • Soul ties
  • Not being able to forgive person/persons
  • Occult possessions (jewelry, statues etc.)

We must remove the rights of these demons through repentance, renouncing ,and granting forgiveness wherever applicable.

Bondage/Stongholds: We must guard our minds. Demons can have a field day and we will consider what we are thinking as our thoughts when they will belong to the powers of darkness. Other issues are feeling guilty or considering the Lord to be upset with you when this is not the case. We also must consider habits such as smoking, drinking, fornication, watching pornography and other types of similar activity. The Lord sees us as His children and wants us to be free.

Interview with the person to receive deliverance: The crux of the Deliverance ministry depends on the discerning of spirits, however, during a deliverance session the subject that is receiving deliverance will receive a lot more freedom if honesty is practiced. Sometimes issues will come to the ministry of the person which can be relayed to the minister. This type of information is essential (along with the discerning of spirits) to get a person free. These activities include: rapes, molestations, traumas, abuses, rejections and other activities that will come to mind.

Authority in Jesus Christ

by Pastor Dennis

Those that have been redeemed by the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and are saved by His Grace, have been given authority in Jesus Christ and to use His name. Jesus gave his disciples this authority when He walked the earth and all believers. This authority is for casting out demons, healing the sick and to preach (Matt 10:1, Mark 16:17-18). Jesus said: “And these signs will follow them that believe”. This authority operates because of the work that Jesus has already completed. We can look at a few scriptures in which Jesus gives this authority:

  • Luke 10:17, “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.”
  • Mark 16:17, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils…”
  • Acts 3:6, “…Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”

We must consider this an honor to be able to use the name of Jesus! This is the most powerful name in the universe and His name is above every name.

Examples of Jesus’ Authority

Jesus exercised authority that was unique from anyone else throughout all time!

  • Jesus cast out demons with the power of His Word: Matt 8:16: “When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word…”
  • We see Jesus casting out demons using His Authority in Mark 1:27:”And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.”

Throughout a deliverance meeting/session and before the meeting the person receiving deliverance must be honest with the person that is performing the ministry of casting out demons. The Holy Spirit will be working with the person receiving and the person performing the ministry. The honesty will cause the demons to become weak in their stronghold over the person receiving ministry. One of the legal grounds of a demon is for the person to walk in agreement with the spirit that is being called out. Be completely open with the person performing the deliverance so that your deliverance can be smooth, complete and performed quickly.

If you experience pain in your body while receiving deliverance you should quickly advise the minister so that this can be dealt with in the spirit realms. This pain could indicate that a spirit is active and manifesting in your body. Some other feelings and manifestations could include but not limited to:

  • Headaches
  • cramps
  • wild emotions
  • confusion
  • anger
  • rebellion

Binding and Loosing

by Pastor Dennis

Matthew 16:19, “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

Jesus called Binding and Loosing the keys to the kingdom. These keys should be used on a daily basis by Christians to protect themselves from the powers of darkness. These keys can also be used as an offensive weapons against the kingdom of darkness.

What is Binding?

We can view binding as sort of tying up a spirit or handcuffing in the spirit realm. For instance, we cannot bind a physical person or their will with these keys, but, we can bind the demons that are driving this person. Binding is not the casting out of demons. Casting out the demons is the actual removing the demons from the person by using the name of Jesus. Binding is tying up the spirit so that the spirit is not free to influence the person that you are praying for. Binding the spirit would be more temporary as casting out the demons would be for more long term. This spritual tool can be used in a lot of instances including the following:

  • If you are preparing to go and witness about Jesus, you would use a spiritual warfare that would include Binding the enemy that would hinder and loose the Word of God to be received.
  • This of binding would also work as a member of a team while another person is witnessing you would be secretly binding the spirits that would hinder
  • A family member is unsaved and is living in sin, you would begin to bind anything that you see in the physical such as smoking, drinking, fornication so that the person would be free to hear about Jesus
  • IF you have someone at your place of employment that is giving you a hard time, you can begin to bind the demons that are motivating that person.

There are many other scenarios where these keys can be used in your arsenal of Spiritual tools and warfare tactics. The scripture says whatsover we bind of earth shall be bound in heaven. This simply means that we are on earth right now, however if we speak the Word of God the binding will happen in the heavenly realms. Jesus has given us the authority to use these tools to use while we are on the earth. Very Powerful!

Putting on the Armor of God

by Pastor Dennis

The Bible speaks of the following elements of the Christians Armour:

Helmet of Salvation: This is the Salvation that comes from Jesus Christ alone. We cover our minds and our thoughts with the fact knowing that we belong to the Lord Jesus Christ. We keep the Word of God going in our minds and thought life as not to let the enemy begin to plant negative seeds that would grow into things that may cause us to stumble.

Shield of Faith: Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Our faith is not based on what we believe necessarily. Our faith comes in what the Word of God says and our knowing what the Word says. Even when Jesus walked the earth, He put the Devil to flight with “It is written”. If Jesus did this when He walked the earth as a man (as an example for us) we can too.

The Breast Plate of Righteousness: We do not live by our own righteousness. We could never be good enough to be in the family of God. Sometimes the enemy can work in an young believer’s life to try and convince them that they are not “good enough” to belong to Jesus. The price that Jesus paid on Calvary’s cross with His Blood is not based on what we did, however, this price is based on what Jesus Christ did alone. The Breast Plate of Righteousness is His Righteousness and not ours.

We have our Loins Girt with Truth: In other words we have the Truth as the Word of God wrapped around us. Knowing the Jesus Christ is our all in all. That God alone, The Father,Son and the Holy Ghost rules the Universe. The Truth of the Word of God is what we need in our everyday lives. The truth of the Word of God is our strength.

How demons can affect a believer? When casting out demons we must have an idea on the ways that demons can affect a believer as well as a non-believer. The following are ways the demons can affect a believer:

Thought life: A believer must learn how to protect the mind. The enemy’s number one area of attack is the the mind. The demons will put negative or even perverse thoughts on your mind to make you believe that they are your thoughts. Do not accept these thoughts. Learn to Bind the thoughts in the name of Jesus. The Word of God in Matthew 18:18 says whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. This technique must be practiced to become perfected. The demons know who has authority and who does not. You must be built up on your most holy faith by devouring the Word of God on a daily basis.

The tongue (words that we speak). In the book of James the Word of God says that the tongue is a fire a world of iniquity and cannot be tamed by man. The words that we speak are so very important. Jesus even said that we shall give account for every idle word that we speak. The words that we speak can and will attract demons to us. For instance, if we constantly are saying “I feel sick or I have a headache”, the demons will pick up on those words and come to enforce them on us. The realization to the believer is that words are a medium of prayer and victory, however, they can also be a medium of defeat to the believer. The believer must learn to put a guard on the mouth concerning the words that are spoken.

Jesus taught us a prayer in Matthew 6:12.

“And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors”.

We as believers should not ask forgiveness for our own shortcomings and then hold unforgiveness to others. This would be considered hypocritical. The Lord has forgiven us as Christians and paved the ways for us to walk in forgiveness. So as we are forgiven we should forgive others. This one fact is a huge key to receiving deliverance. Unforgiveness or harboring bitterness in your heart will block a deliverance session.

Eph 4:32: And be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Walking in unforgiveness is sin and should be confessed as such. The Father will forgive you in the Name of Jesus. Building up unforgiveness in your heart even against a family member will hinder your relationship with the person and with the Lord. We must deal with these issues straightaway so that we can walk in the grace of God and be reconciled with whoever we have held unforgiveness or bitterness. We can forgive when the fault was contributed to us, however, when the fault is contributed to someone else this is the test. Can we let go of our self-will and let the Lord work in our hearts to soften our hearts and just forgive? Forgiveness is not an option, forgiveness is a requirement in the Word of God and your deliverance and relationship with the Lord will not be complete until we let go and let God.

As a born again Christian we have received abundant forgiveness from the Lord of our sins. Anyone that does not know the Lord can know Him because of the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalm 32:1-2 says: Blesses is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

We are blessed and have abundant joy in our hearts because of the forgiveness that comes freely from the Lord. We have been forgiven for our willful disobedience and rebellion. We all have missed the mark and the Lord knows that we are imperfect. If we were still in our sin as a Christian there would be no way that we could see the Lord in heaven. Because of the forgiveness that the Lord shows toward us we have been reconciled back to God. The Lord forgives all sin no matter how big or small we think they are.

In Psalm 32:5 the Psalmists says that he acknowledged his sin before the Lord.

Psalm 32:5: I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquities have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
