Jesus said in John 14: the “the Holy Spirit dwelleth with you and shall be in you”. As a matter of fact Jesus also said that no man can come to the Father unless he be drawn by the Spirit of God. Then Jesus goes on to say that the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit will come and live inside of the believer in John 14:23.
The ministry of the holy Spirit is different when compared Old Testament vs. New Testament. In the Old Testament the Bible says that that Holy Spirit “came upon “certain individuals. This statement is in contrast to what was stated in the introduction when Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would be in us.
In the Old Testament the Blood of Jesus had not been shed. Consequently the ultimate ministry of the Holy Spirit had not yet been completed. His (the Holy Spirit’s) ministry was more of an outward ministry in the Old Testament. When we come to the New Testament in the gospel of John Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would come after him. Jesus said “It is expedient for you that I go away”. When Jesus left and went back to the Father, the Holy Spirit came “like as tongues of fire” in the upper room as seen in the book of Acts. The Holy Spirit is active in the life of believers that have accepted Jesus Christ into their lives.
